How it works

From "we should cook this" to "everything's in the cart" without juggling three apps.

🔗
Step 1

Paste a recipe URL

Import from any cooking site. Smart parsing handles fractions (1/3, not 0.333), strips metric translations from units, and picks up prep + cook time + servings.

Step 2

Auto-generate a week

One tap picks breakfast / lunch / dinner for every day from your library. Smart no-repeat algorithm. Configurable: 3 to 14 days, weekend brunch substitution, your choice of meal slots.

🛒
Step 3

Push to shopping list

Every ingredient across every recipe collapses into one grocery list, merged and sorted by aisle. "2 tbsp + 1/4 cup honey" becomes a single line: 3/8 cup honey.

What's inside

Built deep, not wide. Each piece is competitive with the dedicated apps it replaces, and they connect to each other in ways those apps never can.

📖

Recipe library with smart import

Paste any recipe URL. Tries the recipe-scrapers library first; falls back to AI parsing for sites it doesn't know. Decimals become cookbook fractions automatically.

Menu auto-generation

One tap plans a week. No-repeat algorithm prefers variety, falls back gracefully when your library is small, never picks the same recipe two days in a row.

🧮

Cross-recipe ingredient merging

Three recipes call for salt? You get one line that says "Salt from 3 recipes." Even different units merge: 2 tbsp + ¼ cup honey becomes ⅜ cup honey automatically.

🏪

Group by grocery aisle

Flip a toggle and the shopping list reorganizes into ~12 grocery sections in store-walk order. Drag any item to a different aisle to teach the system. The override sticks for that ingredient forever.

👀

Compact + detailed views

Compact mode hides measurements you don't shop by. You see "Salt" instead of "2¼ teaspoons salt". Bulk items still show real quantities. Each user picks the view they prefer, so different members can shop differently from the same list.

👨‍👩‍👧

Built for shared households

Real-time across web, iOS, and Android. One parent plans the menu, the other shops with the list, the kids "like" the meals they want repeated. Each household lives in its own isolated database schema.

🥞

Useful from day one

8 starter categories and 19 starter recipes ship pre-loaded, so you can auto-generate a real week of meals five minutes after signing up, before you've added anything yourself.

🤚

Drag-to-reorder, everywhere

Reorder shopping list items to match your store layout. Long-press on mobile, click-and-drag on desktop. Your store is yours, and the app shouldn't force a default order on you.

❤️

Vote on the meals you love

Every household member can "like" individual meals on a menu. Likes roll up to the recipe, so you can see which dishes are the household's actual favorites over time.

Stop paying for three apps to do one job.

Most households juggle a recipe app, a meal planner, and a shopping list app. Each is owned by a different company, each has its own subscription, and none of them talk to each other. ættlíf Kitchen replaces the lot.
